Sliema is situated only 5km from Valletta, with a transfer time of about half an hour.

Sliema’s shops are among the best on the island, with many fashionable shops and boutiques. Among the best local purchases are Maltese lace, fine silverware, pottery, and woollens.

There are a good variety of cafes and restaurants, serving everything from traditional Maltese cuisine to international dishes. The nightlife is sophisticated with many fashionable bars and clubs.

Sliema has some flat, rocky beaches with watersports and there is a sports club, about 12km away, offering golf, tennis and squash.
